Student Services SASI Classes
Fall 2008 Classes
The MHRIC Student Service SASI Team is pleased to offer the following SASI classes for our SASI Districts. These classes are intended for SASI users, system administrators, and district administrators.
Each training session will be held in the computer training labs at the Mid-Hudson Regional Information Center in New Paltz. We strongly encourage you to participate. Ongoing training will enable your district to better utilize the SASI application and avoid program errors. Please share this information with others in your district. If you are planning to attend any of the training sessions listed, please complete the registration information below.

Food is not served in our classes. Some of the locations have vending machines for snacks. You are on your own for lunch.
IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER: Please call 845.255.1450 ext 5000 and listen to the message. Please do not pay attention to what the radio says about Ulster BOCES. Our classes are rarely cancelled except in extremely bad weather. If we are open, the class will start at the scheduled time.

SASI Overview
This is a class for the new, or almost new, SASI user. In addition to learning to navigate through SASI, you will gain an understanding of the depth and potential of student information available in your SASI database.

Basic Query
For anyone who needs to get answers from SASI, this class provides basic skills to create SASI queries. Course covers how to construct a query, some basic query techniques, how to use simple conditions to filter unwanted data, and how to print query results.

Advanced Query
For anyone who needs more advanced query skills, this class provides instructions on the use of multiple atom queries, filters, labels, counting and totaling queries, and using multiple query conditions. Prerequisite: Basic Query.

SASI Optimizer
The Scheduling Optimizer from Tabby Software, in combination with the SASI Schedule Pro school administration software from Pearson School Systems, gives you the most possible students fully scheduled and best quality of class loading for middle and high schools. Fewer student conflicts means a smoother school opening, less lost student instructional time and better use of counseling resources.

Basics for Exporting SASI Data into Microsoft Office 2003
This class will review the basics for exporting SASI data into Excel and Word, as well as merging SASI data into Word documents. This is not a Microsoft Office class.Participants must be proficient with Office applications.

Overview of SASI Data Warehouse Process
In this class you will learn how the data in SASI is used for the creation of the data warehouse extracts for reporting to SED. This is your opportunity to discuss data accuracy and integrity. |
SASI System Reports
Save valuable time by utilizing the many easy to produce standard reports available through menu selection.

Shortcuts for SASI
Getting the most out of SASI utilizing methods such as “drag and drop,” “cut and paste,” and creating matrices. Including instruction on hot keys, user generated atoms, generic selection, and the student group atom. This class is geared toward district staff that has been using SASI for a year or more. |
